The Best Places to Live in Canon City
Let’s start with a little disclaimer, I haven’t lived everywhere there is to live in Canon City. And “The Best Places to Live in Canon City” would be subject to your interests, price point, your wants, your needs and other factors. So with that in mind lets do a quick overview of Canon City and it’s various areas from one real estate agents view point. The list below is for areas in town, not all of Canon City.
Best Places to live in Canon City
Downtown, like any other place is where the activity is going to be. Canon City has a great art scene especially on “First Fridays” where several business host artists and the public. North Side of town, just North of highway #50 is full of Victorian to Mid Century houses. An established area full of history.
The far North side, around the state streets, has houses on bigger lots even acreage. People in the area will tell you they have the best views. Houses might be turn of the century to newer build homes and Manufactured homes.
Dakota Hideout and 4 Mile are on the East Side of town. Mostly new construction, not far from 4 Mile golf course. Easy access to town or out of town.
Lincoln Park isn’t in Canon City but just South of Canon City and the Arkansas River. Known for it’s farm houses and fertile soil. House can range from the late 1800’s to some newer build homes. And if you’re lucky the property will have fruit trees or grapes already established.
Dawson Ranch is a newer community. The homes are on larger lots, 1/2 acre more or less, that climb the hill on the South West side of town. many of the houses have walk out basements and views down the valley. At night you can see the lights of Dawson Ranch climbing the hill.
The Duck Park area is also close to downtown and close to the Arkansas River. Hundred year old homes will great access to the river and the activity of town. And a great place to be if you enjoy concerts in the park and 4th of July fireworks.
